Mann Tracht, Un Gott Lacht

Plenty to do, no space to do it in...
"Man plans, and God laughs"

I see that I kept a public queue of my 2013 projects! I thought it might be fun to go through those and see what has happened to them over the last twelve years...

Firstly, I pretty much explicitly stopped tracking projects like this. This is my hobby, and for the most part, I should just be doing whatever brings me joy. If a project isn't doing it for me right now, I will gladly stop it and do something else.

That said, I am running out of room for new projects, so I need to be a bit more judicious in what I do start! And, if I'm running more convention games, that means I will have deadlines for at least some projects.

Anyways, here's the list:

Infinity: Paint Fusilier, Croc-Man, two ORCs.

Never did it. Partly because I was trying so hard to really paint well, and frankly that's not something I enjoy. And nobody else around was interested in Infinity. In fact, I got rid of all my Infinity just recently just to get it out of my sight.

Terrain: Rework trees. Forest borders.

An evergreen topic, if I am allowed a pun. I have a 15mm/25mm trees and terrain set up that I'm fairly happy with.

15mm D-Day

I did run a game of this, although not with every unit listed. I am considering doing a nice terrain board and running this with IABSM. Stay tuned.

For what it's worth, 15mm WW2 is probably the figures I have the most of, and I picked up a large unpainted British lot at Siege of Augusta 2025 for pennies on the dollar. Overall, I'm still fairly excited about 15mm WW2.

The biggest barrier is finding rules for large numbers of players. I have been running public games with uncertain numbers of players, as opposed to invitation-only home games, as in the past. So, I need to figure out the right rules for this. IABSM really is just targeting two players, although I have ideas for multiplayer.

15mm Napoleonics

I haven't touched these guys in years. I was on the verge of rebasing, then decided I didn't want to rebase, then just didn't do anything. I'll get back to them some day.

Lord of the Rings/SAGA: Help N.O.S. paint Mumak. Run game.

Number One Son and I can't actually find his Mumak, and suspect Mom put it into an attic "toy box" somewhere and we just haven't found it.

That said, I did pick up a fairly large Uruk Hai force, second hand. And at the Historicon 2024 flea market, I bought four beat up Mumakil. AND recently bought a NIB Mordor force. They all need a little work, but basically I am SET for this.

Oh, and I painted up a nice metal Balrog I got second hand!

On the pure historical Saga side, I have 8 points of Anglo-Danes and 8 points of Vikings. I never did get around to painting my Welsh. I am still considering buying Normans...but I have resolved that I can't do so until I paint my Welsh.

Prehistorics

This is boxed up and I haven't done much of anything with it.

Cowboys

Didn't do much of anything with cowboys, although Number One Son and I have dabbled in some What a Cowboy! Also, I bought into the Dead Man's Hand v2 kickstarter, and I found laser patterns for Old West buildings. So, really, this is set if I just do a little bit of terrain work.

Bolt Action

Pretty sure that was for 1st edition Bolt Action. I never did much of anything with it. However, with v3's release and several people from ETMW interested, I participated in a local escalation league and used that as excuse to finish painting up a full platoon of 101st Airborne.

French and Indian War: Paint 20 militia. Paint 20 Indians.

Never did it, and in fact I sold all my unpainted 40mm F&IW for a song in the Historicon 2025 flea market. Not enough interest, local guys already had it in 25mm, and no desire to try and store 40mm terrain.

These below were a bit of longer term, stretch goal thinking:

Flames of War

As mentioned above, I still have a strong interest in 15mm WW2, and all my figures are based for FoW, but I can't say I have much interest in the actual FoW rules. If somebody locally wants to play, I'm glad to, just not going to drive it myself.

US Airborne in Sicily

Always on my mind, but I haven't taken any action on it.

Gladiators. Paint, play. Animals to fight? Have bear, hyenas, gorilla, okay lions.

I have around 20 gladiators painted up, and I need to run a game of this! I have Arena of Blood from Wiley Games, which I think will give a good large multiplayer game. I'll have to give it a shot.

Tomorrow's War exist 15mm Sci-Fi, Force on Force existing Iraq

Forgotten, nothing happened with it, not much interest right now.

6mm Yom Kippur War with Cold War Commander.

Forgotten, nothing happened with it, not much interest right now.

Hirst fantasy terrain for LotR?

This is NOT going to happen. I like the idea of Hirst molds, but the end result is heavy, and I've had pretty good luck with foam terrain. Stay tuned...

Have lots of AK-47 stuff...arrange and paint up for a game?

Ah, my white whale...one of the first things that really appealed to me around historical gaming was a spread of AK-47 in Wargames Illustrated back in the '90s. I have scads of it, but not really organized. I should run a game...some day...
